Sporting 100Km 29th January 2012
The date has been set, the posters are being put up, the training tapered for the big day; our fourth Sporting 100 will take place on the 29.01.2012. It will follow last years route, towards Waterford and on up through south Kilkenny. The event will start at 10am, Sign on 9am onwards and finish in the Geraldine O Hanrahan GAA grounds on the outskirts of New Ross.
This year it will be just over the 100km mark. From a recent recon, the roads ae in very good condition. With the new Motorway in place the roads from Waterford should be nice and quiet for us cyclists.
To get to the start take the ring road around New Ross and if coming from a northern direction follow the N30 up hill until you get to A Topaz Filling station on your left and take an immediate left turn. The start is on your right hand side. If coming from a southern direction again Take the N30 and go through a set of traffic lights and when you see a Topaz garage on your right take the turn off before the junction to the start. There is ample parking and showers as well as refreshments provided before and after the event.
Below is a map of the route. Its 101km in total.

Its a relatively flat route, nothing too steep

It heads out of New Ross on the main ring road (N25) then taking the main road to Waterford. From there it takes the now secondary road up towards Mullinavat and on to Ballyhale, Knocktopher, turning right just after Stonyford, at Ennisnag at the 62km mark. It takes a nice quiet road across to Bennetsbridge, taking the main road back via Thomastown, Inisteoge and on to New Ross, up the Ferry hill to the ring road taking the lef t at the Topaz garage to finish where refreshments and warm showers are provided
